Yolanda Sargeant is the Queen of Lo-Fi Soul. A genre that she and her producer Comrade (Evgeniy) pioneered after not being able to find an appropriate label that fit their eclectic style. The duo infuses jazz, soul, funk, dancehall, hip-hop, and other genres into a unique sound that combines the old with the new. Sargeant’s rich vocals take center stage while Comrade’s production takes you on a multi-layered, genre-bending journey from beginning to end.
After the successful release of their debut album Magic Radio (June 2020) they were long-listed for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize, won the Western Canadian Music Award – Breakout Artist Of The Year 2021 and, YYC Soul/RnB Recording of the Year 2021.  On Dec 3, 2021,   Sargeant X Comrade returned with their second album “The Elephant In The Room” and was awarded another Western Canadian Music Award- R&B/Soul Artist of the Year 2022 and YYC Soul/R&B Recording of the Year 2022.

Sargeant X Comrade was awarded a 1-week residency at the National Music Centre and this is where their 3rd album “Lo-Fi Future” came to life.

Sargeant X Comrade received a year-long residency from Arts Commons under the TD Incubator program. As the Incubator Fellows, they selected artists from all disciplines and backgrounds to create under their chosen theme Lo-Fi Future.  During this residency, they curated exhibitions, performances, and a quarterly in-person late-night talk show and transformed the stage into the inside of a spaceship.

Yolanda Sargeant was 1 of 10 across the country awarded Woman In Canadian Music Honours Roll 2023 for her contributions to music in Canada.

Sargeant X Comrade’s highly anticipated 4th album “Power” is set to be released Summer of 2025.
